A little bit more about the pixel pusher with a purpose.

From the designer

(artist statement)

From the first time I used Xcode Storyboards to design the interface for my first app, I knew in my heart that crafting accessible, delightful experiences was a passion I was ready to devote myself to. Instilled in me from a very young age was the drive to solve problems in the world around me. My portfolio features UI/UX design and research projects that reflect this passion, showcasing strong visual design skills as well as a commitment to inclusive design thinking. My case studies aim to solve problems in communities that I belong in, as well as problems that I notice my friends and family encounter on their day-to-day.

Every case study starts with the research. I often start the process of compiling my research through tools such as FigJam or Notion, while preliminary design work often starts from something as simple as pen and paper. I then use a multitude of qualitative and quantitative research methods to explore the problem I am trying to solve, such as surveys, user interviews, observations, and more. Once the research is compiled, I demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud to synthesize the research into a prototype that aims to solve the problem that I have identified.

My philosophy as a designer has to always been to put the user first. I have always been fascinated by the potential for technology and computing to solve problems and make lives easier. This has pushed me to create solutions that are not only beautiful, but inclusive by design. I believe that it is through user-centered thinking that I can fully devote myself to creating a more equitable, just world around me.

It all started with my mom's old laptop…

(About Me)

Born in the Philippines but brought up in the Bay Area since age eight, I was blessed to have a childhood marked by multiculturalism, exposure to cutting-edge technology, and an upbringing that emphasized hard work.

Raised by a single mother, I found myself enamored by the computer screen when she was away at work at a very young age. While other kids played games, I found myself with the thirst to create, learning video editing, basic web design, and more. It wasn't until high school where I rediscovered my passion for creating something beautiful for others to enjoy.

As I explored avenues of graphic design, web development, and more, it was my education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo that truly solidified my focus for UI/UX design. It was creating delightful, easy-to-use experiences in my coursework and extracurricular activities that I felt fulfilled and complete.

In this house we believe in…

(my purpose + values)

Universal Access

Regardless of factors that prohibit people from using technology, I believe that extra time and effort should be taken to ensure anybody and everybody can benefit from what I create.

Ethical Design

Our products should always be transparent and free from dark patterns, and always keep in mind the impact that we leave on our users, our society, and our world.

Delighting Users

Usability should not come at the cost of aesthetics, or vice versa. I believe in creating experiences that is a pleasure to use, where users are come back because they want to, not because they need to.
